ABC picks up more 'Forgotten'

ABC picks up more 'Forgotten' by James Hibberd (Hollywood Reporter):

ABC has picked up five more episodes of its Tuesday night crime drama "The Forgotten" and has decided against ordering additional episodes of Wednesday's "Eastwick."

However, executive producer/showrunner Luke Reiter is not expected to continue with "Forgotten."

The Christian Slater procedural has been the stronger of the pair, both of which are produced by Warner Bros. and air at 10 p.m. "Eastwick" will finish production on 13 episodes; ABC plans to run them all.

CONGRATS TO "THE FORGOTTEN"

THE FORGOTTEN ~ Congrats to the cast, writers and crew of 'the forgotten' for getting the thumbs up from ABC today. Now the show has time to expand their audience and we fans have time to really promote the show to everyone we know. Time to get to work everyone! Lets get the word out that there is a great show airing on Tuesday nights called 'the forgotten.'

THE FORGOTTEN ~ Meeting The Cast

THE FORGOTTEN ~ Confession....I only knew Christian Slater by name and until I watched him shooting during my visit I had never seen his work before. Yes I know. I am the worst tv and movie viewer on the planet! Christian arrived on the set with a smile on his face and a warm greeting for everyone there. While I watched him filming his first scene of the day it occured to me that I have been missing alot! Fantastic actor. Christian is pictured above with actresses Rochelle Aytes and Heather Stephens. Wonderful actresses. I've read the script for the episode I watched being filmed and it is a winner..."Double Doe" written by Debra J. Fisher and Holly Harold.

THE FORGOTTEN: MY GUT FEELING

THE FORGOTTEN: It's been a long time since I was a newbie fan walking onto a studio lot to watch a production company at work. I was priviledged to visit the set of "the forgotten" last week. I've visited the Criminal Minds' studio so many times that I know everyone's names and jobs but 'the forgotten' set was new territory for me and I didn't know what to expect. The nice thing about not being a reporter is that you aren't looking for a story to write when you visit a set. I had no agenda other than to watch Deb Fisher work and get a behind the scenes look at this new show.

"the forgotten" is a new show finding its way like all new shows do. Starting from scratch without the behind the scenes frills and high end things you are used to seeing on long running shows. I watched them film for awhile, roamed outside watching the crew and everyone mulling about and then found a bench to sit on to think. So here is what I think about what I saw. Call it a gut feeling if you want but I had the same gut feeling about CM years ago when the critics trashed it and the ratings were iffy. "the forgotten" has a good vibe. Passionate people are working on this show and you don't need them to tell you about it. You can feel it watching them work.

If ABC gives this show a chance, and it should, then I think it will find a large audience and one day, years from now, I will know all the grips names at their studio like I do at CM. The people I watched have what it takes to grow, learn and deliver. They deserve your time one hour a week and if you haven't watched the show yet then you should. If you watched one of the first episodes and thought it wasn't your cup of tea then I suggest you try one of the newer episodes. Criminal Minds had to find their stride back in the day and they did. I believe the same is true for 'the forgotten.'

’Forgotten’? Not Christian Slater

THE FORGOTTEN: Wonderful interview with Christian Slater: BURBANK, Calif. — Actor Christian Slater’s long and successful career makes it seem like he never missed out on anything. But there is one thing that passed him by, he says: life.

When he was 27 he’d already worked 18 years. "My life about that time was working and stressing about working. That was pretty much what it was based on. I really didn’t know there were other things to do. I had no concept or clue," says Slater in the commissary on the Warner Bros. lot.

"I would work and go home at night and live in this house behind gates, so I was very isolated, very closed off. And I didn’t really know how to maneuver within society. I just didn’t know how to do it. I felt very insecure and all these things," he says.

THE FORGOTTEN Question Of The Day

THE FORGOTTEN - Question of the day: What do you like best about 'the forgotten' starring Christian Slater?

Bruckheimer's the forgotten episode 5

THE FORGOTTEN: Jerry Bruckheimer’s the forgotten episode #5 should have been called “The dog knows who dun nit”, because the dog provided the best clue to the victim’s identity by his actions. The show opens with some kids hanging out at a favorite campsite by the lake. They shed their clothes into bathing suits and start enjoying the lake water, splashing around and having fun. Just then an aggressive dog grabs some of their food from a bag and runs off. One of the kids give chase to the dog then trips and falls face down to the ground. He see’s a skeletal face in the dirt. He jumps up. His friends are now on the scene and witness the skeleton face as well.

A voiceover plays on screen. “Think back who your best friend was as a kid…or does time change things”? “You just want things to last forever”. The “network” is called. The initial conversation on this case reveals the body was found 18 months ago at Lake Ward. The victim is thought to be in his late twenties and had head trauma injury which was the cause of death. The skeletal remains had a special t-shirt on it. A sketch was made by Tyler using modern computer techniques from the skull. Walter said there was a dog that kept coming to the site where the body was found for about a year everyday. Walter suggests that the victim must be the dog’s owner. He was kind of ignored about this at the time.

Alex interviewed the officer who was first on the scene at Lake Mead. It was then revealed the body was wrapped in sheets. The officer revealed that he remembers several trucks in the area during that time and a couple arguing but nothing to connect to what happened with the body.

THE FORGOTTEN: Director Karen Gaviola

THE FORGOTTEN: Director Karen Gaviola, pictured on the set of Criminal Minds with Deb Fisher during the filming of A Shade of Gray, is directing an episode of THE FORGOTTEN right now in LA. She is directing an episode written by Debra J. Fisher and Holly Harold. Karen is a fantastic director and I can't wait to see the episode. Pass the word. Magic is being made on the set of THE FORGOTTEN!

THE FORGOTTEN: James Van der Beek

THE FORGOTTEN: James Van der Beek will be guest-starring in an upcoming episode. Rochelle Aytes on Her Role in ABC's New Drama 'The Forgotten'

THE FORGOTTEN - Wonderful interview with Rochelle Aytes who stars on "the forgotten."

Don't let Rochelle Aytes's meek and demure appearance fool you. This Harlem-bred queen might have played the downtrodden and physically abused wife in Tyler Perry's "Madea's Family Reunion," but she's tough on the inside and showcases a bit of her edge in her latest gig as detective Grace Russell on ABC's new missing persona's drama "The Forgotten." ESSENCE.com caught up with Aytes to talk about shedding her good girl image and why she's an Uptown girl at heart.

ESSENCE.COM: Your new show is intense and takes a different approach to solving missing person cases. Is there real-life group called "The Forgotten"?
ROCHELLE AYTES: I can't remember the name of the actual group that inspired this show, but they do exist. The difference on the show is that "The Forgotten," is a group of amateurs who have 9-to-5 jobs but volunteer their time finding out who the missing person was and helps bring closure for the families of the victims because there are no witnesses, and the cops and detectives need the help. I play Grace Russell; I'm the only detective and she's a strong passionate person with her hands full heading the The Forgotten network.
